Having trouble perfecting the art and science of delegation?

can develop. Try the following proven techniques to improve
your delegation skills. 1.
Delegate the whole task
Give the job to one individual and do not try to divide
it up, take it back, change it, or re-delegate it without
a good reason. 2.
Delegate authority
Give your employee the authority needed to make decisions
and complete the job. Hoarding power will only make the
experience frustrating and more time consuming for your
team member. 3.
Write it down
Record objectives, instructions, expectations, and desired
results. This makes the entire process clearer for everyone
involved. 4. Train
your staff
Show them they have the skills to do the
job correctly. Give them time to practice and make mistakes.
5. Review the results
When the job is done, hold an evaluation
with the employee. Focus on results not the methods. If
the job was not completed satisfactorily, find out what
happened and if you could have made your instructions
and expectations clearer. 6.
Reward success
Reward the employee for a job well done.
If the assignment was not completed satisfactorily, bring
it to their attention and look for ways to improve performance.
